Donald Trump Uses Makeup to Conceal Mysterious Spot on His Hand
The President of the United States was seen with a peculiar patch on his hand during a press conference earlier this week. It was later revealed that he underwent a medical examination for a different reason, which led to a diagnosis.
President Donald Trump caused a stir on Tuesday, July 15, when he appeared for a press conference at the White House. The POTUS was seen with what appeared to be makeup covering a circular patch on the top of his hand.
His press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, addressed the matter in a statement to Daily Mail. "President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history," she said.
However, medical experts who spoke to the publication have suggested otherwise, with one arguing that Leavitt's justification for the covered patch is unlikely. In fact, others posited that it could be bruising, an insect bite, a histamine reaction from a blood draw, or Trump hitting his hand against something.
It's also not the first time a strange patch appeared on the president's hand; he has made headlines for similar sightings since taking office this year. Prior to the mysterious covered patch, however, Trump sparked speculation about his health after a photo of his swollen ankles went viral over the weekend.
On Thursday, July 17, Leavitt revealed that he underwent a physical exam by the White House Medical Unit in light of the swelling, as public concern grew. Presidential Physician Sean Barbabella diagnosed the president with chronic venous insufficiency.
Barbabella described the condition as a "benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70." He also reassured the public that despite the diagnosis, "The president remains in excellent health."
