Donald Trump Says He’s Bringing ‘Real Cane Sugar’ Back to Coke; Coca-Cola Responds
The President of the United States made the announcement earlier this week on social media. It follows previous statements by Coca-Cola promising to reduce sugar levels in its beverage production.
President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account on Wednesday, July 16, to announce that he was bringing "real cane sugar" back to his beloved fizzy drink, Coke, and claimed to be working toward that goal with the brand.

"I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I'd like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them — You'll see. It's just better!" he wrote.
Coca-Cola responded in a statement to PEOPLE, though the industry giant did not confirm whether it was, indeed, working with the president on the matter.
"We appreciate President Trump's enthusiasm for our iconic Coca-Cola brand. More details on new innovative offerings within our Coca-Cola product range will be shared soon," the company said.

The statement follows Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey's 2025 Proxy Statement in April, in which he told investors that the brand continues "to make progress on sugar reduction in our beverages by changing our recipes to reduce added sugar."
He added that the company is also achieving this by "using our global marketing resources and distribution network to boost awareness of, and interest in, our ever-expanding portfolio of low- and no-calorie beverages."
