Dennis Quaid Shares He Personally Knew Victims of the Deadly Texas Floods
The "Breaking Away" actor expressed relief that his only daughter escaped unharmed, as he urged netizens to pray for the survivors in the wake of the natural disaster.
In a recent interview, Dennis Quaid candidly talked about the day the deadly Texas floods began. His daughter Zoe Quaid had been working as a counselor at a camp about 75 miles north of Kerrville when news about the flooding broke.
That evening, he failed to reach her after learning about the situation just before going to bed. Dennis knew she wasn't anywhere near the disaster area but tried to call her still. The father and daughter duo only talked the next day, and he was wary throughout the night.
While Zoe and those she was with were "relatively safe up there," the same cannot be said about another family. Her father divulged:
"One of the girls at that camp lost her whole family who were camping in an RV, I guess, on the Guadalupe River, and they were swept away."
Dennis and his wife, Laura Savioe, are friends with the Hunt family. Clark Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, unfortunately, lost a nine-year-old relative named Janie Hunt.
"I can't imagine how that would … how devastating that would be," said Dennis, adding those affected by the floods need prayers during this difficult time.
The Guadalupe River flooded on July 4, 2025, wreaking havoc in the surrounding area and affecting the Christian girls' summer camp. The flooding claims hundreds of lives, including several campers and staff members at Mystic.
