'American Idol' Fans Want Carrie Underwood Back as Judge After Season 23

The "American Idol" Season 4 winner won viewers' hearts after appearing as a judge for the very first time during Season 23, replacing Katy Perry.

Carrie Underwood stepped in as a judge on "American Idol" Season 23, replacing Katy Perry, while Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie continued their roles. With the season recently concluding, fans are now calling for Underwood to return full-time.

During the Season 23 finale, the judging trio took to the stage to perform Richie's classic hit, "Stuck On You." While the performance was widely praised, it also sparked renewed interest in Underwood's future with the show.

"Best season in a while!! Hope all three judges return next season!" one fan wrote. Another echoed the sentiment, saying, "LOVE Lionel, Carrie and Luke as judges. Unbelievable legendary careers and beautiful souls, too. After all of these years, Idol has found the early magic again."

Calls for Underwood's permanent spot on the panel continued across social media. "Love this!! Please bring [Carrie Underwood] back!!! ❤️❤️❤️" a fan requested. Another added, "Need Carrie, Lionel and Luke back next season! This has truly been one of the best seasons of [American Idol] 🤩🤩🤩🤩"

Despite the growing demand, "American Idol" showrunner Megan Michaels Wolflick says nothing has been confirmed yet. "It's early days still, but I love our panel. I think we're in a good place," she said.

Season 23 concluded with Jamal Roberts being crowned the newest "American Idol," edging out finalists Breanna Nix and John Foster.
