Meryl Streep Spotted Filming ‘Only Murders in the Building’ with Martin Short

"The Devil Wears Prada" star is returning for the show's fifth season alongside the "Only Murders in Building" alum. The nature of the pair's relationship off-screen once came into question.

Meryl Streep and Martin Short were spotted on the streets of New York City on Wednesday, May 7, filming the Hulu comedy-crime thriller. The pair are returning as newlyweds Oliver Putnam and Loretta Durkin.

In photos shared online, Streep can be seen sporting a shimmering gold trench coat with rolled-up jeans and light gray loafers. With a brown suede tote bag slung over her shoulder, she accessorized with dark sunglasses and a gray fedora hat.

Short walked beside her—banana in hand—wearing a dapper three-piece suit, layered with a teal shirt, a black patterned scarf, and a burgundy trench coat. At one point, the onscreen couple was pictured sharing a kiss.

Short is one of the show's core cast members and executive producers, while Streep joined the cast in season three as Short's love interest.

Since she became a part of the show, speculation about her relationship with Short began circulating, but this was addressed in January 2024. Short's representative told People that he and Streep were "very good friends, nothing more."

A few months prior, in October 2023, news broke that Streep and her husband of 45 years, Don Gummer, had been separated and living apart for six years. As for Short, the actor was married to Nancy Dolman, who tragically died in 2010.
