
Serena Williams’ 2025 Met Gala Look Sparks Mixed Reactions
The retired pro tennis player graced the blue carpet in a dreamy custom gown. However, onlookers of the exclusive event gave mixed reviews of her look on social media.
Serena Williams attended the 2025 Met Gala celebrating Black dandyism with the spring theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." The multiple Grand Slam titleholder wore a custom Moncler x EE72 ensemble by Edward Enninful.

It featured a soft seafoam green satin gown with a sheer thigh-high slit, and was layered with a dramatic matching puff cape. Williams kept her accessories minimal and styled her hair in vintage finger waves.
Upon seeing her take on the theme, viewers shared their opinions. Some reviews were glowing, as one netizen wrote, "She is stunning." "Beyond Wow🎉🎉🎉," another raved.

"Omg the puffer cape 😍," a fan gushed. "Yeeeees Queen yessss," another praised. "She ATE idc what you sayy [sic]," someone else noted.
Not all reviews were positive, however, as one commenter stated, "Apparently some of these star did not understand the assignment [sic]."

Some compared Williams' ensemble with bed linen. "She stole my bed sheets," one person wrote. "Satin sheets with matching duvet," echoed another. "It's giving bed spread," a commenter said.
Amid the mixed feedback, Williams shared some of her own photographs ahead of the gala on her Instagram. "For every dandy, there's a gown," she captioned.
