Lizzo Looked 'Fabulous,' Not 'Slim' at Breakthrough Prize Ceremony
The rapper stepped out in a bold outfit at a recent high-profile event which sparked mixed reactions among fans. While some criticized her choice of look, others zeroed in on her appearance.
Lizzo attended the 11th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony on April 6, 2025, and walked the red carpet in a strapless, floor-length gown with matching gloves featuring long nails at the ends. The figure-hugging garment featured a ruched and pleated long skirt.

The Grammy Award winner styled her hair in a loose wet do and bangs. She opted for a daring makeup look featuring heavy blush, red eye shadow, and matching lipstick. Taking to Instagram, the Michigan-born singer shared pictures of get-up captioning the post, "Science is sexy @breakthrough."
Lizzo's outfit choice showed off her weight loss, but fans had mixed reactions regarding her overall look and took to Facebook to express their thoughts.
One person remarked about her glam look, "Makeup is a little much." Others complimented her with comments like, "Lizzo is stunning," and "She's lovely."
However, others focused on the Daily Mail calling her "slim." "Definitely better shape and is doing great work, but slim is the wrong word," commented one person. "That's not slim," added another. While another individual noted, "She looks fabulous! But not 'slim' This isn't meant as criticism of her but the article."
While other people argue about whether or not she looks slimmer compared to before, Lizzo has a different term for her transformation. The "Good as Hell" hitmaker reportedly prefers saying "weight release" when referring to her appearance because it provides a positive meaning.
During an interview on April 7, 2025, she explained the weight she shed is not only fat or physical. "I released so much to get to this point, and I think people can see that, and I don't want to describe anything as loss," said the music star.
