Stevie Nicks Shares 50-Year-Old Letter She Wrote to Her Parents Before Joining Fleetwood Mac
The "Go Your Own Way" singer sent the letter to her family while recording "Buckingham Nicks" with a former Fleetwood Mac bandmate. The album was reissued earlier this month after being out of print for decades.
Stevie Nicks took a walk down memory lane recently. The rock icon took to Instagram on Monday, September 22, to share a letter she wrote to her parents more than 50 years ago. The handwritten message was penned on a Sound City Studios note in Van Nuys, California.

"I wanted to share this letter I wrote to my family while Lindsey and I were making Buckingham Nicks," the 77-year-old wrote in her caption. "My mom saved it and it's been in a drawer for over 50 years."
Nicks released the letter in honor of "Buckingham Nicks" being reissued nearly a week ago, on Friday, September 19. The album, which marked her and Buckingham's first as artists, was originally released in 1973, one year before the pair joined Fleetwood Mac.

At the beginning of her letter, which was also addressed to her brother Chris, Nicks quipped that she was "getting very tired of sitting around listening to 12 hours of music per day." Still, she added:
"Oh well, I know it will pay off in the end, and when I am sitting in my small but luxurious Beverly Hills home overlooking my small but tasteful pool that is totally secluded, where I can sun in the nude and tan my entire fat body while waiting for my plastic surgery leg lift - it will all be worth it. Otherwise, everything here is just peach-y."
Nicks went on to say she hoped her "little family" was doing well and expressed that she missed them. She also referenced an early cut of the song "Don't Let Me Down Again" from the album, sharing that it was almost finished.
"Lindsey may go down in history as one of 'greats' in guitar playing. It really is quite amazing," she said. Nicks and Buckingham went on to have quite a tumultuous relationship. They began dating in 1972 and split four years later.
By then, they had already joined Fleetwood Mac, and would go on to perform alongside one another until the group disbanded in 2022, following the passing of their bandmate, Christine McVie.
