What began as a surprising connection between Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau now seems to have lost momentum, with sources saying their brief romance has cooled amid busy schedules and public scrutiny.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau's rumored romance has reportedly slowed down, with insiders saying their connection has seemed to mellow in recent weeks.

The pair sparked speculation last month after being spotted on a dinner date in Montreal, followed by Trudeau attending Perry's sold-out "Lifetimes" tour stop in Canada. But according to the Daily Mail, their communication has "waned in the past two weeks."

"She's busy, he's busy," a source told the outlet, noting that the two were texting each other consistently in July. "They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off."

The insider added, "But there's nothing negative about it. They just aren't in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it is what it is. It has cooled off."

Reports suggest the former Canadian Prime Minister was uneasy about the intense attention that followed their dinner date, which came just weeks after news broke of Perry's split from Orlando Bloom.

"I know for a fact that Justin wasn't thrilled about the pictures getting out," the source said. "It was a first date. A first date! And these pictures came out and it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted."

The source added that Trudeau was not prepared for the level of attention that comes with dating a global pop star, as it can be overwhelming.

Another source told the outlet that, at present, Perry, 40, and Trudeau, 53, are simply friends. "She isn't ready to start dating anyone right now, she has to continue to focus on her healing from separating from Orlando," the source explained.

Though their pairing took many by surprise, reports claim the two had an instant connection when they first met.

Trudeau announced his separation from wife Sophie Gregoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share three children: Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.

Meanwhile, Perry and Bloom confirmed their own split in early July after nearly a decade together. They co-parent their 4-year-old daughter, Daisy.
