President Donald Trump has reignited his feud with mainstream media, this time singling out longtime CBS anchor Gayle King in a scathing online post that questions her relevance and ratings.

In a post published Tuesday, August 5, 2025, on his Truth Social platform, the president shared a New York Post report suggesting Gayle King's future at the network is uncertain, citing declining ratings for "CBS Mornings."

"Gayle King's career is over," Trump wrote. "She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!"

The report Trump referenced claims the show is faltering due to its "'woke' morning show" format, and links the drop in viewership to recent leadership changes following the merger between Skydance Media and Paramount Global.

The article also suggests the network's new owners are aiming to reduce perceived liberal bias in its news programming.

"The audience doesn't want woke. It doesn’t like progressive and provocative bookings," a source told The Post. "The morning show audience wants optimism and cheer and joy and what they were producing is at odds with audience expectations."

Once a reliable ratings driver for CBS's struggling news division, the long-underperforming morning show has recently dropped below 2 million viewers.

Over the past three weeks, co-hosts King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson have seen a year-over-year decline of 20% to 30% among viewers aged 25 to 54 — the key demographic for advertisers — according to Nielsen data.
