Christina Applegate Recalls the ‘Knife to the Heart’ Remark Her Daughter Made amid Her MS Diagnosis
The "Married… with Children" actress opened up about the difficult conversation she had with her teen daughter amid her battle with multiple sclerosis. She was diagnosed with the condition in 2021.
Christina Applegate appeared on the Sirius XM podcast, "Let's Talk off Camera with Kelly Ripa," in an episode released on Tuesday, July 28. The "Bad Moms" star opened up about how her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis has affected her relationship with her daughter, Sadie.

During the episode, she revealed that she recently had a rather uncomfortable conversation with the 14-year-old, whom she shares with husband Martyn LeNoble. "I don't get up in the morning with that, I get up because of her," Applegate said of Sadie.
"She's the reason I'm still here and trying," she continued. "But she did say to me, and we got into a big thing the other day, and sorry Sadie, but it has to be said. She said, 'I missed who you were before you got sick.'"
"That is just like a knife to the heart because I miss who I was before I got sick too. Very much. Every day of my life is such a loss," she lamented. Applegate has been candid about her MS journey since announcing her diagnosis on X in August 2021.

"Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It's been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition," she wrote at the time.
She finished the message with her signature humor, writing, "It's been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it."
