Prince William delivered a lighthearted surprise during Robert Irwin's live U.K. radio appearance, sending a cheeky voice message that left both the host and guest laughing.
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, wildlife presenter Robert Irwin, 21, appeared on BBC Radio 2 with host Scott Mills when he was unexpectedly greeted by a voice message from Prince William.

"Good morning, Scott, or should I say G'day, Scott?" the Prince of Wales, 43, began, before adding, "I know you've got the fantastic Robert Irwin on the show this morning, a brilliant ambassador for the Earthshot Prize."
William apologized for not being at the show to greet the two of them in person and extended an invitation to Irwin and Mills for the Earthshot Prize event in Brazil this November. He closed with a joke: "Watch your back at all times [so] that a tarantula or something doesn't suddenly pop onto your desk."
Irwin, who serves as an Earthshot ambassador, previously joined Prince William at the 2024 Earthshot Prize awards in Cape Town, South Africa. Back in November 2023, Irwin, the son of the late Steve Irwin, praised the royal, calling him "a real beacon to everyone in the conservation field."
During the segment, Irwin also shared wildlife facts with listeners, including how many teeth tigers have and the current number of wild elephants. He also revealed that he and Prince William talk about animals frequently, and when they do, Irwin learns a thing or two.
